Our History

2018: The Idea is Born

ShootSpot was founded in 2018 by John Smith, a seasoned film producer who recognized the challenges and inefficiencies of traditional location scouting. Frustrated by the time-consuming process and limited resources, John envisioned a centralized platform that would connect creative professionals with a diverse range of locations, streamlining the entire process.

2019: Launching the Platform

After a year of development and careful planning, ShootSpot officially launched its online platform in 2019. The initial launch featured a curated selection of locations in the Los Angeles area, quickly gaining traction among photographers, filmmakers, and event planners. The platform's user-friendly interface and comprehensive location details made it an instant hit within the creative community.

2020: Expanding Our Reach

In 2020, ShootSpot expanded its operations to include locations across the United States. This expansion marked a significant milestone for the company, solidifying its position as a leading resource for location scouting nationwide. The platform also introduced new features, such as advanced search filters and virtual tours, further enhancing the user experience.

2021: Introducing New Services

Responding to the evolving needs of its clients, ShootSpot launched a suite of new services in 2021, including location management, permit assistance, and on-site support. These services were designed to provide comprehensive support throughout the entire production process, from initial scouting to final execution.

2022: Focus on Sustainability

ShootSpot commits to sustainability in 2022. The company partners with eco-friendly location owners, promote sustainable production practices, and offset its carbon footprint through investments in renewable energy projects. ShootSpot believes that it is responsible to the environment.

2023: Technological innovation

In 2023, ShootSpot integrates AI-powered search and matching, making location scouting faster and more precise. Users can upload mood boards or describe their ideal scene, and the AI suggests locations that match the vision. This feature reduces search time and helps creatives discover unexpected but fitting locations.

2024: Global Expansion

ShootSpot ventures into international markets. Launching first in Canada and the UK, the platform includes multicultural locations and service offerings. By the end of 2024, ShootSpot aims to be a global platform, facilitating cross-border collaborations and setting new standards for location scouting worldwide.

2025: Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, ShootSpot remains committed to innovation and excellence. We are constantly exploring new ways to enhance our platform, expand our selection, and provide unparalleled support to the creative community. Our vision is to be the go-to resource for location scouting worldwide, empowering creative professionals to bring their visions to life.
